The Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) and its Committee on
Accreditation Review (CAR) require from all accredited providers to
be notified of any and all organizational changes that will impact
the provider's CME Program. In the event that there is a
change in leadership, program direction or name change of the
organization, the following must be adhered to:
Written notification of the change in leadership (DME),
direction of the CME program or name change of the organization
(due to a merger, new affiliation, etc..) must be forwarded to the
MMS in a timely manner. (Within 90 days of
change).
There is a 6-month limit for an individual to serve in the role
of interim or acting DME; at which time the organization must
appoint an individual to assume the role as the permanent
DME. The MMS must then receive written
notification of the new DME, including contact
information.
Written notification of a change in CME Coordinator or Medical
Science Librarian must be forwarded to the MMS in a timely
manner. (Within 90 days of change.)
Individuals who are new in the roles of DME and CME Coordinator are strongly encouraged to attend CME accreditation orientations, participate in live chats, and review archived material on both the MMS and ACCME websites. Please contact Nancy Marotta, Manager, Recognized Accreditor Program at (781) 434-7906 or nmarotta@mms.org with any questions.
