American Medical Association Foundation Funding

The American Medical Association offers several scholarship programs. They include:

Minority Scholars Award

  • Amount: $10,000
  • Eligibility: Current first- or second-year students who are permanent U.S. citizens or residents and of minority background. Each medical school can nominate two students, and approximately 12 scholarships are awarded annually.

Physicians of Tomorrow Scholarships

  • Amount: $10,000
  • Eligibility: Third-year medical students, based on academic achievement and financial need. Fourteen scholarships awarded in general (12), communication of science (1), and medical journalism (1) categories. Medical schools can submit one nominee for each category.

Arthur N. Wilson, M.D. Scholarship

  • Amount: $5,000
  • Eligibility: Any enrolled medical student who graduated from a southeast Alaska high school.
