Massachusetts Medical Society: Massachusetts Medical Society supports vaccine mandates for health care workers

Massachusetts Medical Society supports vaccine mandates for health care workers

Vaccines are effective in reducing the number of patients who fall seriously ill from COVID-19 and remain the primary strategy for limiting the spread of the virus.

As cases again rise and patients require medical assistance, it is imperative that our entire health care workforce, regardless of setting or role, protect themselves, their communities, and their patients, especially those who are unvaccinated and at an increased risk for contracting the virus. The Massachusetts Medical Society supports requiring that all who work in health care receive COVID-19 vaccination. We urge the adoption of transparency protocols that enable patients, in the interest of their own safety, to know whether providers and staff with whom they will or may interact in a health care setting are vaccinated against COVID-19.
