Dr. Hugh Taylor elected president of the Massachusetts Medical Society

WALTHAM – Dr. Hugh Taylor, an Ipswich resident who has been a family physician practicing in Hamilton for 41 years, has been elected as the 142nd president of the Massachusetts Medical Society, the statewide professional association of physicians and medical students at the organization’s annual meeting.

Taylor, a longtime member of the MMS Board of Trustees, will serve a one-year term, concluding in May of 2025.

A member of the Medical Society since 1983, Taylor has served the organization in various capacities, including as chair and member of several committees. He is a past president of the Essex South District Medical Society. In addition, he served as AMA delegate representing the American Academy of Family Physicians from 2010 to 2023.

Among his roles and responsibilities throughout his professional career, Taylor is a past President of the Medical Staff of Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals.

Taylor, a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Medical School, was an instructor of family medicine at Boston University School of Medicine for more than 20 years.

He is a longtime and active member of the Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
