The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) system
was founded by the federal government shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, to
function as part of local emergency preparedness teams.
Supplementing existing public health and emergency resources, an
MRC functions as a collaborative, local team prepared for
large-scale public health crises. MRC units need medical and
non-medical volunteers who are prepared to respond and assist local
health and safety officials.
