As a central component of the Society's mission, the MMS advocates on behalf of patients for a better health care system, and on behalf of physicians, to help them to provide the best care possible.
The MMS has been actively engaged in raising awareness about the critical issue of physician burnout and the need for system changes, improvements and burden reduction. The MMS has worked closely with the Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association,
the Board of Registration in Medicine and others to advocate for change for students, residents and practice physicians and their teams.
Physicians have the highest suicide rate of any profession and more than twice that of the general population. The MMS is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and seeking help. View our new resource page related to physician suicide awareness.
